Yoga Day is a non-profit organization that works to bring yoga to underserved and physically challenged populations throughout San Antonio. Yoga Day provides weekly classes at places like Healy Murphy High School, Haven for Hope, the Good Samaritan Center and the Kipp Aspire Academy.
Director Carlos Gomez says the organization fields weekly requests from groups throughout the community, and many of those requests go unserved because funding isn’t available to pay certified yoga teachers to lead the classes.
You can help Gomez and Yoga Day by participating in the Yoga Day in the Park event on June 7 at Brackenridge Park. The event begins at 8:30 a.m. and continues until 11 a.m. and will include yoga classes for children, seniors and all ages in between. There will also be live music, healthy food and drinks, a silent auction and raffle.
The Yoga Day in the Park event will take place by the Tony “Skipper” Martinez Softball Field in Brackenridge Park, 3700 N. St. Mary’s St. For more information about Yoga Day, visit www.yogadayus.com.
