Tune up your bike and make plans to join Green Spaces Alliance for their fourth annual SicloVerde event on Saturday, May 9. The event provides residents the opportunity to experience an urban bike ride (or walk) through eight San Antonio gardens, starting with the Eastside Sprouts Community Garden. From there, participants can choose from a 17-mile ride, 13-mile ride or 5K walk/ride.
Everyone will meet at the Eastside Sprouts garden before traveling in small groups with experienced guides. Bikers and walkers will have a chance to visit each garden and participate in end-ofride festivities including door prizes, food from the garden, live music, drinks and snacks.
Registration is required, and the first 200 pre-paid participants will receive a T-shirt, water bottle, a set of LED lights and reflective ankle bands. Green Spaces Alliance is a non-profit environmental organization that seeks to keep South Texas green and enhance urban spaces through conservation, community engagement and education. All proceeds from the annual SicloVerde event go to benefit gardens within the San Antonio area.
The SicloVerde rides begin at 8 a.m. at Eastside Sprouts Community Garden and continue until 12:30 p.m. For more information, and to register, visit www.greensatx.org.
