It’s not too soon to make plans to participate in San Antonio’s 31st MLK March, which takes place on Jan. 15, 2018. San Antonio’s march, hosted by the San Antonio Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission, is the largest commemoration in the nation.
The 2018 event is expected to draw about 300,000 marchers who will walk the roughly three miles from MLK Academy to Pittman-Sullivan Park on the city’s east side.
The MLK March is one of the largest events taking place during San Antonio’s DreamWeek Summit, a 16- day commemoration that takes place Jan. 5-20 throughout the cityand includes more than 200 events focused on the themes of tolerance, equality and diversity. DreamWeek’s goal is to host events that initiate meaningful discussion and spark ideas that can lead to positive change throughout our diverse community. The summit is inspired by the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and humanitarians like him who have focused, and continue to focus, on creating a more equitable and enlightened society for everyone.
The MLK March begins at 10 a.m. on Jan. 15 at the MLK Academy, 3501 MLK Dr. For more information about the march and about the DreamWeek Summit, visit www.dreamweek.org.
