Witness the beginning of a new River Walk tradition, and enjoy an ethereal experience as you float your lanterns of wishes, hopes and dreams down the San Antonio River on Feb. 17.
The event is officially called Confucius Wishing Lanterns on the Water, and pens will be available to decorate and personalize lanterns, which will be made from eco-friendly rice paper and contain a floating LED candle. The event will also feature Asian music, dance and food.
Immediately after lanterns are released, and every night after for the next two weeks, six 26-foot floats carrying illuminated objects will appear from 7-9 p.m. Enjoy the magical floats from anywhere along the downtown portion of the River Walk.
Admission is free, and lanterns are $5 each (sold at the event). The event starts at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17, at the San Antonio Convention Center Lagoon near Ruth’s Chris Steak House. Lanterns will be cast at 6:30 p.m. For more information, visit www.thesanantonioriverwalk.com.
