Nature play in the Alamo City gets a boost starting March 3 with the Grand Opening of the newest addition to the San Antonio Botanical Garden: the Family Adventure Garden! Kids will climb, tunnel, tumble, roll and dig their way through 15 themed areas that encourage unstructured play and exploration.
Parents and caregivers will also find plenty of spaces to enjoy, with several rest and picnic areas located throughout the area.
The adventure begins at the Adventure Gateway, the only entrance and exit to the 2.5-acre Family Adventure Garden, where families have a safe place to play in nature. From there, visitors can explore the regions of South Texas, dip their toes in tranquil pools, run up and down beckoning hills, discover mazes and secret gardens, and trek through Thunder Ridge where a clap of thunder starts a water play adventure.
Each themed area also offers pop-up education through problem-solving skills, physical activity and opportunities to learn about the diversity of soil, insects, plants and animals in specific regions.
San Antonio Botanical Garden is located at 555 Funston Pl. For more information about the Family Adventure Garden and all other botanical garden attractions and activities, visit www.sabot.org.
