The city’s Fitness in the Park program has been humming along smoothly for the past couple of years, enticing residents to get out and get active by participating in free fitness classes at many local parks and events. Thanks to the program, residents now have access to free exercise classes literally every day of the week in locations throughout the greater San Antonio area.
Recent funding from the Coca-Cola Foundation allowed the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, which supports Fitness in the Park, to add its first Mobile Fit unit. This new mobile fitness vehicle will make it even easier for free fitness classes like Zumba and boot camps to come to a location near you.
Mobile Fit SA is a colorful new van that travels through the city offering a variety of free group fitness classes and gives residents the opportunity to get free health screenings for body mass index (BMI), blood pressure and body fat analysis. It’s a lot like a health kiosk on wheels. The new vehicle will travel to parks, schools and community events throughout the year.
