New Local Training Option for a Career in Health Care: Local College of Health Care Professions Adds Physical Therapy Technician Program


Adds Physical Therapy Technician Program The local branch of the College of Health Care Professions is starting a new program this month that offers the opportunity to work alongside physical therapists, physicians, chiropractors, athletic trainers and other medical and health professionals.

The new 10-month Physical Therapy Technician certificate program includes lecture, laboratory exercise and practice and an “externship,” which provides real-world experience working with professional health care providers.

Program participants will learn anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pathology, modality applications that include ultrasound, massage, therapeutic exercises, electronic stimulation, hydrotherapy and other modality applications. Graduates will be prepared for entry-level positions in a variety of health care settings, including places like private clinics, chiropractic offices, inpatient and outpatient hospital settings and fitness facilities.
