This magazine – the San Antonio edition of Natural Awakenings – is for sale.
That’s a hard sentence for me to write; it’s also an exciting sentence to write. It’s hard because pretty much every day of the past three years has started and ended with this publication on my brain. This magazine has been a delightful passion of mine, a dream come true in many ways, and also the impetus for an amazing life journey that I will never forget and never regret. As publisher of this magazine, I’ve learned more than I ever imagined, and I have had the opportunity to meet more amazing, passionate and truly giving people than I realized even existed. So the prospect of eventually stepping aside is hard.
And yet I’m also excited, for a couple of reasons. First, I’m extremely excited for the magazine. The San Antonio edition of Natural Awakenings is an amazing franchise, and it is poised and positioned to grow significantly, to reach more people in our community and have an even larger positive influence on lives throughout the Alamo City and beyond. In the three short years that I’ve published this magazine, we’ve been able to produce a consistently high-quality publication that has expanded in size and in community reach. I’m so proud of the magazine and enormously excited about its future in San Antonio.
I’m also excited about my own professional journey. Owning Natural Awakenings has enabled me to add many more tools to my professional toolkit. I’m looking forward to taking some time to figure out the next chapter of my professional life. At my core, I’m a communicator – a writer, editor, content and marketing strategist who loves the persuasive and informative power of words. I don’t know yet what I’ll do next, but I’m excited to have the opportunity to explore.
What does this mean? It simply means that at some point in the future this magazine will have a new publisher. The magazine will continue to publish each month without missing a beat, and it will continue to be available at all the places you’re used to seeing it. The magazine’s focus and content will not change, so you can be assured that Natural Awakenings will remain the Natural Awakenings you love and look forward to each month.
Until a new publisher takes over, I’m still right here, and I’ll continue to do everything I can to build the magazine’s readership and positively influence more lives in our community. This magazine is a business, a successful business, but for me there is a tremendous amount of heart and soul behind it. I have published Natural Awakenings as a community resource, a service to the community, and it has been a labor of love. There is nothing more wonderful than regularly planting seeds that have the opportunity to bring about transformational change in individual lives – that’s what I’ve tried to do with each magazine each month, and that will continue.
Thank you, from the depths of my heart, for your ongoing support. Enjoy this wonderful April issue – may the blossoms of spring bring you and your family happiness and joy all month long.
