If you’re looking to participate in a summer run with the kids, look no further than the Jalapeño del Sol 5K/10K and 1 Mile Kids’ Run at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24. And don’t sweat over the summer sun; the trail is almost entirely shaded by oak trees.
The chip-timed race travels through heavily wooded dirt trails and can be uneven and rocky in places, so attention is critical. The event starts and ends at Classic Elite Soccer Fields, 11600 Starcrest in San Antonio. The one-mile run for kids starts immediately after the 5K/10K and will follow the same trail with some paved trail included. Adult racers receive post-race breakfast tacos, a Zorrel tech shirt, refreshments and cerveza. Kids receive their own post-race award, T-shirt, refreshments and juice.
