Historic Monte Vista Opens its Gardens for Special Walking Tour on May 13

Green Spaces Alliance

Celebrate Mother’s Day and take in spring’s fresh air with a weekend walking tour through the gardens of historic Monte Vista.

The beautiful backyards of the Monte Vista district will be open to the public on Saturday, May 13, through a yard tour hosted by the Green Spaces Alliance.

The self-guided walking tour through the urban green spaces will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is meant to provide inspiration for residents to start their own South Texas garden. Docents will be available at each home to answer questions and highlight features such as native plants and water conservation.

A social event fundraiser will take place at the Landa Library, 233 Bushnell Ave., from 3-5 p.m. on May 13. The theme will be Tea in a Texas Garden, and all proceeds will benefit the Green Spaces Alliance.
