El Chupacabra de San Antonio takes place on July 26 and is a 5K/10K race that’s unique in that runners will make their way through heavily wooded dirt trails entirely in the dark.
This fun run starts and ends at the Classic Elite Soccer Fields across from Blossom Athletic Center. The run begins at the top of the dam and proceeds in waves based on runner experience.
Glow sticks are placed in trees to guide runners through the night, but flashlights or headlamps are required, as trails are rocky with tree roots and low-hanging branches.
Runners are given two hours to complete the trail and a post-race party will be held until midnight. The party will offer music, beer, refreshments and catered barbecue.
