Adventures and new experiences abound at the Witte Museum. Here are several noteworthy events happening in February and March:
Yoga for Every Body: The Health Effects of Yoga – Wednesday, Feb. 18, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Part of the Louis A. and Frances B. Wagner Lecture Series. Join Dr. Bryan Bayles, curator of anthropology and health, and special guest, Nydia Darby, owner of Nydia’s Yoga Therapy, as they demonstrate the tools to develop a powerful, personalized yoga practice for health. $5 for members and students; $10 for non-members.
Spring Break Adventure Camp at the Witte – March 9-13, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Children in grades 1-2 and 3-5 can participate in day camps or the full weeklong camp. The Adventure Camp focus will be on healthy kitchen creations through a variety of experiences in the new Children’s Hospital San Antonio Demonstration Kitchen, located inside the new H-E-B Body Adventure center. Meditation 101: Taming the Mind with Joy and Compassion – Wednesday, March 25, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Part of the Louis A. and Frances B. Wagner Lecture Series. Dr. Bryan Bayles, curator of anthropology and health, will explore the profound health and joy that come from simple meditation exercises. Dr. Bayles has practiced meditation for more than 15 years and studied with renowned monks and scholars in the Tibetan Gelukpa lineage. $5 for members and students; $10 for non-members.
