Every month the McNay hosts a free family day on museum grounds. Each event is designed to introduce children to the museum and local art scene while also allowing them to get a little creative and learn about the museum’s exhibitions. July’s family day is all about “going green” and exploring the ways artists give new life to old materials, like those represented in the museum’s current exhibition, Recycle, Repurposed, Reborn: Collage and Assemblage.
During the event, families will learn how to turn trash into treasure by creating scrappy collages and biodegradable newspaper planters. There will also be a recyclable relay and musical performance.
Family Day at the McNay Museum is free, and reservation is not required. The event takes place on Sunday, July 19, from 1-4pm. The McNay is located at 6000 N. New Braunfels. For more information, visit www.mcnayart.org.
