Earth Burger Opens June 9 – Park North Shopping Center, Blanco & 410
Your fast food options are getting healthier this month as Earth Burger rockets into town. Earth Burger is the brainchild of the Behrend brothers, Chris and Paul, who proved that a veggie-only menu could make it in San Antonio with the tremendous success of their two Green Vegetarian restaurants. Now with Earth Burger they’re taking aim at the local fast food industry, which for readers of Natural Awakenings is reason for more than a few enthusiastic high-fives.
The first Earth Burger opens June 9 at a former drivethru building in the Park North Shopping Center, at the corner of Blanco and NW Loop 410.
“We are entering the fast food market with tastier, fresher and healthier alternatives that also happen to be vegan and vegetarian,” Chef Mike Behrend says on the Earth Burger Kickstarter site. “At the same time, we are doing something better for the planet. Compared to meatbased diets, plant-based diets are good for the environment.”
The Earth Burger menu features meat-free Earth Burgers, “Chik-n” sandwiches and protein wraps, a tofu “fish” fillet sandwich and BBQ-textured vegetable protein sandwiches. Kids can get Chik-n tenders, a kid-sized Earth Burger, corn dogs or a traditional grilled cheese sandwich. Yes, you can have fries with that, or you can choose baby carrots and hummus, kale salad, edamames or apple slices.
Earth Burger hours are Sunday-Thursday 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. and Fridays 10 a.m. – 8 p.m., closed Saturdays. For more information about Earth Burger, visit www.eatatearthburger.com.
