CSA Expansion Makes Local, Organic, Fresh Produce More Accessible Than Ever

Johnson’s Backyard Garden Expands Local Pickup Service

If you don’t live on a working farm, Community Supported Agriculture – or “CSA” as it’s known – is the next-best way to get fresh, locally grown, organic produce into your urban abode. CSA produce options have grown for local residents in recent years, and a significant service expansion by Austinbased Johnson’s Backyard Garden (JBG) is allowing San Antonio city residents to bring home more fresh, local fruit and veggie options than ever.

JBG grows more than 60 different types of veggies and herbs, and each week CSA members receive a “share” box that includes a variety of seasonal, organically grown produce and herbs.

JBG recently began offering CSA box pickup on Wednesdays at a number of locations including Juicer Heroes at 15337 San Pedro, Local Coffee at Alamo Heights (5903 Broadway) and Sonterra (700 E. Sonterra), Revolucion Coffee + Juice at 7959 Broadway and Geekdom at 112 East Pecan, 11th floor. What this means is any local resident can order a “share” box of fresh, seasonal produce from JBG and pick it up on Wednesday at any of the above locations. JBG also offers Saturday pickup at Gaucho Gourmet, 935 Isom Rd., and Sunday pickup Ripe Farmers Market, 17103 La Cantera Pkwy.
