For anyone who has ever wanted to start a neighborhood gardening project, make plans to join the “How to Start a Community Garden” workshop, which takes place Saturday, Aug. 27. The four-hour workshop will teach you all you need to know to start a new gardening project in your neighborhood.

Sponsored by Green Spaces Alliance of South Texas, topics covered will include: 

  • Organizing your community 
  • Site selection and design 
  • Overview of garden components 
  • Resources for locally appropriate gardening techniques 
  • Fundraising 
  • Garden maintenance
