Chilly Chase 5K/10K Run Debuts Jan. 11: Winter Run Benefits Girls on the Run

When it’s chilly out, the best remedy is getting your feet moving. The inaugural Chilly Chase 5K10K Run will help you do just that on Saturday, Jan. 11. Founded by local realtor Shannon McShane, the event benefits Girls on the Run, a physical activity based youth development program for girls in 3rd through 8th grade.

The program, which strives to unleash confidence and boost self-esteem while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness, culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K running event.

The event will begin at the Valero Trailhead of the Leon Creek Greenway System. Runners will gather in the parking lot of Appleby’s and the Drury Inn, just west of IH-10 and south of Loop 1604. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and runners start at 8:30 a.m.

The event is coordinated by Split Second Productions, affiliated with locally owned iRun Texas.
