In 1981 the United Nations named Sept. 21 International Peace Day. Since then, people across the globe have gathered to proclaim peace and make the world a better place. Locally, Patricia Villastrigo is again hosting San Antonio’s World Peace Festival a week early, on Sept. 13, at The Jackson Ranch on Callaghan Road, just north of Loop 410.
This year’s festival includes a peace-themed art showcase featuring local artists who utilize a wide variety of mediums, from sculpture and paint to glass and jewelry. You’ll also enjoy live music, dance troupes, vendor booths, a silent auction and a $5 World Peace Raffle. All proceeds from sales and donations benefit Dr. Jane Goodall’s Roots and Shoots Organization, which is dedicated to teaching children how to take care of the environment. A portion of the proceeds will go towards Texas Spirit, the San Antonio chapter of Roots and Shoots.
The World Peace Festival begins at 12 p.m. on Sept. 13 at The Jackson Ranch, 8910 Callaghan Rd. For more information, visit www.skinnyllamaproductions.com.
