It’s time to unleash your inner artist and head to downtown San Antonio for the 14th Annual Chalk It Up event on Saturday Oct. 14. The free festival will transform historic Houston Street into a gallery from the ground up.
Hosted by Artpace, Chalk It Up raises awareness and support for Artpace’s educational programs by covering downtown with chalk art by local artists and residents alike. Everyone is encouraged to become an artist for a day and work on a collaborative city blocksized mural. Additionally, guests can take part in hands-on activities like screen printing, button making, chalk spirographs and more. Local schools, universities and non-profits are invited to play a significant role at the event by creating an original design together as members of “Team Works.”
On Oct. 14, Houston Street will be closed from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the event, which will also include food trucks, live music, photo booths, performances and much more. Artpace nurtures creativity by providing a space for local, national and international artists to dream, create and share their work.
