“Midtown-East” Route Debuts — 3.25 Total Miles of FUN
This past spring, Siclovia traveled south to the Southtown area for the time in the event’s short history. The newness was fun and invigorating as the bi-annual opportunity to “play in the streets” reached new neighborhoods and engaged new residents. That same excitement will return on Sept. 28 when Siclovia returns to its Broadway roots, but with a new twist.
Last month the YMCA of Greater San Antonio announced that the Sept. 28 route will allow attendees to explore the city’s flourishing near-east side through the addition of a new route “arm” extending off of Broadway down McCullough/ Nolan streets to the Dignowity Hill neighborhood.
The new “Midtown-East” Route travels 3.25 miles and is anchored by Lions Field Park, Alamo Plaza and Dignowity and Lockwood parks. Along the route, like past Siclovias, participants will enjoy “Reclovias,” areas that feature scheduled group activities and exercise demonstrations. Siclovia begins at 10 a.m. and continues until 3 p.m.; attendees will be able to run, bike, walk and skate in the open streets.
